WOODLAND AND ARBORETUMS

To clear out a choked up wood and replant it with interesting trees is a wonderfully rewarding experience. And something very special to leave to future generations...

Especially if you follow the advise in the Do-it-Yourself Information & plant a very special collection of trees. But just one is a start for a small space.

Landscaping...

LOGISTICS and PLANNING

Even small projects require some thought and planning. Where will you put the good soil that you dig out and want to re-use? Do you have the space to put the bad and how will you get rid of it? Perhaps you will need some new soil, how much will you need, TEN tons sounds a lot but you soon use it especially in a large project...that is TWENTY TWO tons in the left photograph and TEN tons in the right.

And if you are building a large WATER GARDEN you will need a large amount of rock....I will show you the actual Water Garden that this much rock used.

Using my step-by-step photographs, this section tells you how much rock you need to build a particular project from the smallest to the largest and also some of the quantities of other construction materials too.

Water Gardening...

Imagine relaxing in a home filled with the soothing sounds of water... and no it isn't true that the sound of trickling water stimulates the bladder! And the passing sunlight creating ever changing shadows from plants to rock...bliss!

HOW TO DO-IT-YOURSELF "NATURAL WATER GARDENS in the HOME."

And think of all the wonderful plants you could grow...like you see in these two examples. The one above these words is part of a small Brazilian Rainforest packed with orchids. I created it for a friend of the late Roberto Burly Marks as a tribute to the great man...I am just so lucky to be a Garden Designer! Full details in "HOW TO"

Water Gardening...

We all love bridges, they allow you to stand over the water, watch and feed your fish or simply contemplate.
They come in all shapes and sizes like this lovely Formal Bridge, with a Natural Stream running under it.

WALKING OVER WATER
Bridges

But people make huge design mistakes with bridges. If they overwhelm the Water Garden they distract your attention and become an un-wanted focal point...see "FOCAL POINTS IN THE GARDEN" So, FORMAL or SUBTLE like this example?
My information will help you to decide. Oh, incidentally...all of these Water Gardens are constructed using
the one constructon method

Imagine having this to walk over. How much more would you enjoy your plants! As always you will find all the best options and design advice in the superb STEP-by-STEP PHOTOGRAPHS in my "HOW TO DO-IT-YOURSELF"
